Mangrove Lithium converts lithium chloride or sulfate from brines, hard rock, clay and DLE feedstocks into battery-grade hydroxide or carbonate at a plant in Delta, BC.
Mangrove Lithium operates a lithium refining platform positioned between lithium extraction and cathode manufacturing. Its patented Clear-Li™ electrochemical technology converts lithium chloride or lithium sulfate from diverse feedstocks - brines, hard rocks, clays and direct lithium extraction (DLE) sources - into high-purity lithium hydroxide or carbonate for the battery supply chain.
The company's modular conversion plants are designed to be co-located near lithium extraction points, battery recycling facilities or battery manufacturing operations, an approach intended to reduce capital expenses and improve operational efficiency across the value chain. Its commercial-scale plant at Tilbury Island in Delta, BC, is North America's first commercial electrochemical lithium refining facility; the company is based in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia.
Technical work at the company spans electrochemical lithium refining, battery-grade lithium production, lithium chloride and lithium sulfate conversion, DLE feedstock processing and modular conversion technology. It serves upstream lithium producers, battery recyclers and battery manufacturers. Investors include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, BMW i Ventures, BDC Capital, Mitsubishi Corp, Asahi Kasei and the Canada Growth Fund.
