Sanimax

Sanimax is a family-owned company that transforms organic waste and agri-food by-products into ingredients for animal nutrition, pet food, biofuels, paints and lubricants across the Americas.

Sanimax is a family-owned circular economy company founded in 1939. It collects and processes organic waste and agri-food by-products - used cooking oils, animal by-products and other organic materials - and converts them into industrial ingredients used in animal nutrition, pet food, biofuel production, paints and lubricants. Its Reclaim, Renew, Return process describes this three-step route from reclaimed organic material to finished ingredient.

The company employs more than 2,000 people across 17 facilities in Canada, the United States and Brazil, serving over 40,000 client sites throughout the Americas. Each year it repurposes more than 2 million tons of agri-food by-products. Compared with traditional disposal methods, its operations generate five times fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Technical work at Sanimax spans rendering and organic waste processing, used cooking oil recycling, animal by-product processing and biofuel feedstock production, within industries including rendering, food processing, waste management and recycling, animal nutrition, pet food, biofuels and chemical manufacturing. The company's stated mission is to divert organic materials from landfills and create value from waste while supporting the food chain.
