Northwest Territories Power Corporation
Territorial crown corporation generating and distributing electricity for Northwest Territories communities using hydro, diesel, natural gas, wind and solar assets.
Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) is the primary electricity generation and distribution utility serving the communities of Canada's Northwest Territories. Operating as a territorial crown corporation, it supplies power across a vast and remote service territory, from larger centres such as Inuvik and Hay River to smaller, isolated communities.
The corporation runs a diverse generation portfolio that spans hydro-electric facilities, diesel generator sets, natural gas-fired generation, wind turbines and solar projects. Its work covers both electricity generation and distribution, including maintenance and operation of assets in some of Canada's most challenging environments. NTPC is also engaged in the Integrated Power System Plan (IPSP), a territorial initiative to transform energy infrastructure through sustainable, grid innovation efforts.
Roles at NTPC span hydro-electric, diesel, natural gas, wind and solar technologies, alongside grid and distribution work. The corporation states a commitment to providing reliable, affordable and sustainable power and to empowering northern communities, with an increasing focus on renewable energy alternatives while maintaining reliable electricity service.
