Davie is a Canadian shipbuilder in Lévis, Quebec, building icebreakers, hybrid and LNG-powered ferries, and combat support ships for government and commercial customers.
Davie is Canada's premier shipbuilder and a supplier of specialist, mission-critical vessels to government and commercial customers worldwide. Founded in 1825 by Captain Allison Davie, the company operates from Lévis, Quebec, and has delivered more than 700 specialized vessels over more than two centuries of operation. It accounts for 50% of Canada's total shipbuilding capacity.
Its work is anchored by an initial order package valued at $8.5 billion under Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy: seven heavy icebreakers, forming the world's largest orderbook of heavy icebreakers, alongside two large hybrid-powered ferries. Technical domains at Davie include heavy-duty shipbuilding, icebreaker construction, hybrid-powered vessel design, LNG-powered vessel construction, combat support ship engineering, and dry-dock and marine infrastructure operations. LNG-powered ferries, polar icebreakers and combat support ships are among the other vessel types it has built.
The Lévis shipyard spans 580,000 m² and comprises five construction berths, 53,000 m² of workshop space, 900 metres of service quays and two dry-docks able to accommodate vessels up to 360 metres long.
