Aliment Sofina inc

Poultry processor slaughtering, processing and marketing fresh chicken and turkey products across nine plants in Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba, with over 3,700 employees.

Aliment Sofina inc operates in poultry processing, a labour-intensive segment of Canada's food-production industry. The group's activities centre on Exceldor Cooperative, one of Canada's leading poultry processors, which slaughters, processes and markets fresh chicken and turkey products. Founded in 1945 through the merger of two regional poultry cooperatives, the organisation employs more than 3,700 people and is owned by approximately 330 member-producers.

Operations are spread across nine processing plants: Saint-Anselme, Saint-Damase, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Beloeil and Saint-Cuthbert in Quebec, Hanover in Ontario, and Winnipeg and Blumenort in Manitoba. Headquarters are in Lévis, Quebec. Annual revenue exceeds $1.4 billion. Since adopting the Exceldor name in 1996, the cooperative has been Quebec's favourite poultry brand.

Technical work spans poultry slaughtering and processing, food safety and quality standards, grain-fed chicken certification - pioneered by the cooperative in Quebec - and the marketing of fresh poultry products. Brands produced include Lacroix, Granny's, Butterball and Saha Halal, alongside fresh chicken and turkey lines. Emphasis is placed on high-quality local products, and the organisation supports food banks and community organisations across Canada.
