High Liner Foods
High Liner Foods is a North American processor and marketer of value-added frozen seafood, supplying retail brands and foodservice labels across Canada and the United States since 1899.
High Liner Foods is one of North America's largest processors and marketers of value-added frozen seafood, with operations across Canada and the United States. Founded in 1899 by five brothers of the Smith family in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, where it remains headquartered, the company employs roughly 1,000 to 5,000 people and is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol HLF.
Its work spans frozen seafood processing, value-added food manufacturing and food product development. The company supplies grocery and club stores through eight retail brands - High Liner, Fisher Boy, Sea Cuisine, Mrs. Paul's, Van de Kamp's, Mirabel, Catch of the Day and C.Wirthy - and serves restaurants and institutional foodservice customers through four labels: High Liner, Icelandic Seafood, Mirabel and FPI. It is also a major supplier of private-label, value-added frozen seafood to North American food retailers and foodservice distributors.
Technical work at the company covers prepared seafood processing at scale, product formulation and development, and the manufacture of branded and private-label lines for both retail and foodservice channels. Roles touch food processing plants, quality and product development functions, and the distribution networks that serve retail and foodservice customers across North America.
High Liner Foods states its purpose as "Reimagining Seafood to Nourish Life", which the company says guides product development and customer relationships.
