East Penn Canada is the Canadian distribution arm of East Penn Manufacturing, supplying automotive, motive power, reserve power and consumer batteries through 20 locations.
East Penn Canada distributes batteries across Canada for transportation, material handling, renewable energy, backup power and consumer markets. Founded in 1979 by Jim Bouchard with his father Phil Bouchard, the company began in a corner of a machine shop with two sections of racking and now employs more than 400 people at 20 locations nationwide. Its head office and national distribution centre, in Courtice, Ontario, covers 200,000 sq. ft.
The business started as Power Battery Sales Ltd., distributing Varta Batteries into transportation markets. Within five years it had expanded to 7 branches and 25 employees across Southern Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba. Product lines later broadened beyond automotive into motive power batteries for material handling, reserve and backup power batteries, and consumer battery products. The company describes itself as Canada's undisputed #1 battery distribution company.
East Penn Canada has been part of the East Penn Manufacturing family since 1993. It serves as the Canadian distribution arm of East Penn Manufacturing, operator of the world's largest single-site battery manufacturing facility. The company's technical work spans battery distribution, motive power, reserve power, renewable energy storage and backup power systems.
